Getting It Together

Getting It Together
I get it. I’m definitely not perfect, nor do I always know what I’m doing.
Yet – somehow – people are often asking me for advice. I try and answer their questions as concisely as possible, but the truth is, I’m not a concise kind of person. When I speak, I prefer to use backstories, analogies, and a TON of detail.
So, I’ve decided to use my blog as a guide with answers, tips + tricks, and personal stories on ~how to get your life together~.
I’ve decided to (ironically) name this blog post series: “Alexa, get my life together.”
(If you use an Amazon Echo, or if you’ve heard ANY of the commercials or memes surrounding my name, you’ll understand.)
Hopefully, these posts can inspire you to see your life in a new, and more productive, light.
Today, I’m talking all about how + when I realized I needed to get my life together. And I’m getting SUPER honest here.

2018 was a mess of a year.

I lost the majority of my closest friends after I broke up with my ex-boyfriend.
I suffered from the worst resurgence of my major depressive disorder yet. I couldn’t even get out of bed.
My grades sank SO far down the drain.
On top of that, my family suffered 3 deaths in our immediate family and 2 other deaths of people we knew.

My mom was also diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer two days after my family dropped me off for the DCP. Being 800 miles away from her was terrifying, but luckily I was able to go home during my program to be with her for her surgery and then later for a couple of her radiation treatments.

The above is just a fraction of what my year was like. A lot of it was sad and painful, but there were also plenty of beautiful and joyful moments as well.

I’ll say it again- life is hard.

But it wasn’t until this year that I truly realized something- life is hard, and that’s okay

I’ve been taking the last few months to really reevaluate my life, my dreams, and my health.

It explains why I’ve been so distant on my blog and social media.

I’ve been learning it’s extremely important to take a step back when you feel like you’re drowning in a sea of comparison and “fake happy”. And now, I feel better than ever- ready to grow and create more content that is meaningful and inspiring to you all.

So what now?

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be answering questions for this “Alexa, get my life together” series, so if you have any questions/concerns about life you’d like me to address, feel free to send me an email or Instagram message. Your name will be kept confidential.

Disclaimer: I’m by no means claiming to be an expert on any of the matters I’ll be talking about. Nor am I claiming my life is “together”- I’m human too! We’re all in this together 😉
